Quote: Ron, I'm not sure what you're trying to say
I thought it was pretty clear, #1W. It's easy to denounce others (as I illustrated with some turnabout goatgetting!), however it only displays great personal - or national - insecurity to do so as a mater of routine. It's easy for a those who have been indoctrinated - if it were anti-American or anti-Canadian prejudice/hatred or whatever. It is much easier to enviously attempt to tear down others in an to get them down to one's level than to raise one's own level. Personally, I have more important tidbits on my plate to handle and I wouldn't presume - for example - to rant and rail, demanding Quebec vote "non" on seperation.
Quote: your comment about canada being "irrelevent"
LOL, that was just an alluded to "goat-getting" demonstration - easy to do, isn't it?
Quote: where did you hear that? from the american midia
Unlike most places, Canada included, Americans have a free media - all sorts of views - agreement, dissent, lovefests, fistfights and everything in between. This is something we originated as a concept (and codified) in the world over 200 years ago. This is in contrast to state-run media - CBC, BBC, Europe, Pravda of the old USSR, etc. But I'm guessing if you were to ask folks across the world "why is Canada relevant?" that you'd be waiting a very long time for an answer. Not a slam, just the way it is. I wouldn't be surprised if most folks in the world thought it an extension of the US.
Quote: we have more fresh water than any other country in the world...
Even if that is correct, it's honestly not a big deal anymore than Swaziland making the best deep dish pizza in the world.
Quote: when the water wars start,
Quote: someone like bush will decide to invade us for our resources
I really think you've been feeding the anti-American prejudice a bit too much, #1W. That's the kind of paranoia that earns long stays in the laughing academy. Being in a border state which is nicknamed "The Land Of 10,000 Lakes" we're doing just fine, but thanks anyway. Might invade for round bacon and Moosehead beer, though. Could go for some poutine, so the first landing force strike may be imminent. Get too many of your coins her, though and vending machines spit them back out. Those you can keep - we're just taking the Moosehead to wash down the round bacon and poutine.
Actually I know quite a few fine folks in the equally fine nation just to my north. I also have enough respect for their intelligence and goodwill not to presume to tell them how to run their country. And not feeling at all insecure, I frankly just have no need to do so.

Quote: I'm pleased the Dems now have a contenda - Wes Clark.
Debbie, an interesting video has some quotes from the "Condtenda":
GENERAL CLARK PRAISED CONDI, POWELL, RUMSFELD AND BUSH: 'WE NEED THEM THERE'
**World Exclusive**
Democratic presidential hopeful General Wesley Clark offered lavish praise for the Bush Administration and its key players in a speech to Republicans -- just two years ago, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal!
MORE
During extended remarks delivered at the Pulaski County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 11, 2001, General Clark declared: "And I'm very glad we've got the great team in office, men like Colin Powell, Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice... people I know very well - our president George W. Bush. We need them there."
A video of Clark making the comments has surfaced, DRUDGE can reveal.
MORE
Clark praised Reagan for improving the military:
"We were really helped when President Ronald Reagan came in. I remember non-commissioned officers who were going to retire and they re-enlisted because they believed in President Reagan."
Clark continued: "That's the kind of President Ronald Reagan was. He helped our country win the Cold War. He put it behind us in a way no one ever believed would be possible. He was truly a great American leader. And those of us in the Armed Forces loved him, respected him, and tremendously admired him for his great leadership."
Clark on President George Bush: "President George Bush had the courage and the vision... and we will always be grateful to President George Bush for that tremendous leadership and statesmanship."
Clark on American military involvement overseas:
"Do you ever ask why it is that these people in these other countries can't solve their own problems without the United States sending its troops over there? And do you ever ask why it is the Europeans, the people that make the Mercedes and the BMW's that got so much money can't put some of that money in their own defense programs and they need us to do their defense for them?"
"And I'll tell you what I've learned from Europe is that are a lot of people out in the world who really, really love and admire the United States. Don't you ever believe it when you hear foreign leaders making nasty comments about us. That's them playing to their domestic politics as they misread it. Because when you talk to the people out there, they love us. They love our values. They love what we stand for in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and the Bill of Rights."
Quote: should be tried as war criminals and exiled for the sake of humanity and global peace.
But, Debbie, what makes that just so much hypocritical anti-American rhetoric is that (sadly) you've not made like demands for Saddam, Arafat or closer to home - the Beijing government, for all manner of genocide and massacre. When you are able to do so, then you'll be on to something. Otherwise, it's just nothing more than ingrained prejudice.

Quote: I cannot believe how pro-bush camp you are
The one doing all praising of the President and his circle is the one you posited was the "Contenda", Debbie! Is that not correct? If so, I don't know how much more in the "pro-bush camp" you could get in supporting him!
Quote: care to explain whats anti-american about my post?
Sure, maybe you would define prejudice differently than would I? To be prejudiced one only needs to apply a criteria inequally. That is, if a person will not sell a home to a black family but has no such reservations in selling it to a white family, that person is prejudiced(anti-black). Does that make sense? In your case, the prejudice is directed only at Americans. Otherwise you would be calling for Arafat, the Beijing government, any number of individuals/governments to be tried for their crimes against humanity. But you cannot - it is the very definiton of prejudice and bias when you extend a judgment to Americans and you refuse to extend the same judgment to non-Americans.
Quote: Stop with the anti-american bs already
Actually it is about anti-American bias, not bs heheh...(see above). You're a real sweetie, Debbie, but you do seem to have that bias. An unsavory view doesn't require being a bad person at all and very few people realize they have any bias of any kind. Or even what the bias may be.
(I have no problem at all fessing up to having a pro-America bias.)

but THIS post is about BUSH.
If you want to start a thread about all the other tyranical world leaders who should also be tried as war criminals and exiled, feel free.
As to Wes Clark, perhaps you're right. I'm just hoping that maybe, just maybe, the Democrats can come up with a more moderate and honest team than the bush camp; somehow I dont think that's impossible... if they get someone who can win against him.
But maybe they will and it wont need to be Wes Clark.

debbie's right ron, this is a thread about Bush... not america.. or canada.. but to entertain your responses...
Quote: It is much easier to enviously attempt to tear down others in an to get them down to one's level than to raise one's own level.
truely, i suggest he be risen to ours.... but that's not part of his agenda...
Quote: for example - to rant and rail, demanding Quebec vote "non" on seperation.
if you're comparing the invasion of iraq to quebec's debate on seperation, i suggest you go to a war zone and see the difference for yourself first hand...
Quote: Unlike most places, Canada included, Americans have a free media - all sorts of views - agreement, dissent, lovefests, fistfights and everything in between.
though alternative media exists, it isn't in control of the airwaves.. thankfully we have countries which support state operated media.. in this way they are not controlled by big business... you may want to look and see what the CBC is airing at the same time NBC reruns some pathetic sit-com....
Quote: But I'm guessing if you were to ask folks across the world "why is Canada relevant?" that you'd be waiting a very long time for an answer. Not a slam, just the way it is. I wouldn't be surprised if most folks in the world thought it an extension of the US.
well, impossible to ask the whole world anything, but I'd "guess" that the rest of the world knows the difference between an american and a canadian... it's certainly been my finding when traveling...
Quote: re; water
Even if that is correct, it's honestly not a big deal anymore than Swaziland making the best deep dish pizza in the world.
you might want to do a little research about israel's water problems and their "discussions" with lebenon...
Quote: Actually I know quite a few fine folks in the equally fine nation just to my north. I also have enough respect for their intelligence and goodwill not to presume to tell them how to run their country.
i guess that's because canada isn't threating to impose its political policy on other countries... I have a fear of Bush because he has blatantly disregraded the well being of the american people and their wishes in order to bolster american oil and construction interests around the world... GW's grandfather had no problem doing business with the nazi and his father helped saddam gas his enemies... i'd say they've proven themselves worthy of any capo position... and now with bush steering the boat for big business, he's perhaps the figure head of the greatest crime syndicate in the world... scary thought isn't it?
