1 We didn't know there were doubts.
2 We did know there were doubts but got clearance.
A -I take responsibility.
3 We did know there were doubts and didn't read the memo telling us there is no clearance.
4 Essentially, the wordings were correct.
[Too bad noone told them that Elvis is alive, I would have loved that line]
Recently:
B -I take responsibility.
C -No I take responsibility. Personal Responsibility.
[But noone takes the consequence]
And now; "The threat is a real threat"
(Well, this time it is...honestly!)
Ever heard the story about the little boy crying wolf?

...we live in a world where people expect instant gratification. It took years to find the unabomber and the olympic bomber. We will find saddam and usama, too. And we will also solve the mystery of the WMDs. So I think it is time for the America haters and the anti-Bush liberals to chill the fork out.

I don't think it matters anymore. When I think about the Iran-Contra mess and the clear unethical, immoral, and illegal behavior involved in that and how quickly the vast majority of Americans lost interest, the same will hold true for Iraq. For the vast majority of Americans, it doesn't matter if we were lied to.

"For the vast majority of Americans, it doesn't matter if we were lied to."
Unless there's another terrorist attack incited by this escapade in Iraq, which is quite possible. The systematic depoliticisation and dumbing-down of American culture in the post-war consumer society, and the subsequent inability to select (or at least keep) intelligent and worthy leaders, could have unpredictable consequences in the longer term.
Onward Christian soldiers.
