No.
Yes.
I do hope one day to be a ghost. I would seriously love to spend eternity tormenting the deserving. And when that got boring, I could moonlight as a succubus.

ghosts yes
evil no
i have been close to "ghosts" many times. i can "detect" them or whatever you want to call it. i can sense the level of spiritual activity in a house for example. but i havent really developed a way to get in contact directly like some other people do.... and i really dont think it is a job for me either.

Do I believe in ghosts? Well, not really... I have never seen one. I'm very skeptical, because only 'believers' tend to see them, the same way only believers in God tend to hear God talking to them. However, I can't completely shake my childhood 'fear' of the alleged things, so I probably would not spend the night alone in a supposedly haunted house.
I am not a religious person, so I don't believe in "evil" and "good" as forces.

christianity talks about going to hell, and other religions about being reincarnated back to earth. I think they are talking about the same thing. this is it. the big karma university or whatever you want to call it. purgatory fire and everything, this is where it is.

well...
I believe in the continuity of conciousness before and beyond the span of a single mortal life..
And I believe that everything is alive and significant.
Everything...
I think maybe we are constantly on the edge spirit world that we simply dont recognize until we deliberately choose to participate or are somhow knocked out of our ordinary state of perception..
There is a beach at the edge of the sea of stars where restless Spirits await reconciliation and recognition..
Every time somone passes unmorned they end up on this beach..
Every time somone passes enraged and bitter...they end up on this beach
it's a crowded and hungry place....indeed it's overflowing into our own world so that we seem half dead ourselves, we are choked with the bitterness of the enraged and we are frightfully lonely from the lonliness of the forgotten..
WE...are becomming ghosts...
The journey across the sea of stars can only take place when these spirits either find reconciliation amongst themselves or are helped across by active participation from our world..
through ritualized mourning and offering...
and through ecstatic ritual...
through rememberence..
this is the point of making offerings at the graves and feeding the dead ritualy in our daily lives with rememberence and smoke and such..
-=------------------------------------
At the very least, this is a useful metaphore and this sort of commerce with the "other side" is valuable in our daily lives whether it's "true" or not..because it serves as a constant reminder of where we have come from and where we are going..
it improves human character and makes us more sensitive to the natural world and more accountable in our daily lives..

I guess I must believe in ghosts as I wouldn't spend a night in a haunted house - why do those kids ALWAYS seem to want to do that in those films? I've never seen one or want to see one. I'm most spooked when someone close to me has died.
I'm not overtly religious yet like Axella don't believe in good vs. evil. As black and white as that. I do believe some people become bad.
Paul, I'm interested - spill the beans on the cottage!!
PANick - interesting post. As you probably know, in our culture here, there's a lot of burning of stuff to appease ghosts etc. Culture gets mixed up with religion here!!
Hey, this is quite an appropriate question for the leadup time to Halloween!! hahahahaha
