Hmmm...well, girls sure don't have a problem telling me "NO!".
Quote: Do you often do favors you wouldn't rather do because you don't want to say no? If so, why?
If I can't do something, it's much easier to say "I'm sorry, but..."
But when I do find myself doing a favour that is "out of my way", I like to look for positive aspects. For example someone asks me if I'd run to the store to pick up something for them when I'm relaxed in a chair watching a video and not in the mood.
So I tell myself, "Self " I say "it would be nice to go for a walk (only six blocks) and I maybe I can pick up some things I want/need while I'm there." And I might see a garage sale along the way to peruse through. Or chat with an interesting person at the store. So it becomes a bit of an adventure, lol.
If it's a favour I just can't do - say, like keeping someone's dogs in my flat overnight (cats allowed, no dogs) - I'll look for an alternative that will help out. I might know someone who can do the favour, for example.
I suppose there are a lot of folks who do just about every favour asked, coming from a need to have everybody like them. But as the late Ricky Nelson said in "Garden Party":
"It's all right now,
I learned my lesson well:
You can't please everyone,
so you've got to please yourself."

Yes I do.
I just love a woman that answers YES.
