And I just heard and saw a Pakistani cleric say that to some Pakistanis, "ïllicit" (whatever that means) sex is even more offensive than murder.....

Can this be true.....?

And just now - the same cleric was just asked by the (western female) interviewer if it is ok for men to beat Women....

His response was "A man has the right to discipline his woman for misbehaviour"....

and if a woman is raped she needs TWO male witnesses to testify otherwise she can be tried for adultery or sex outside marriage.

Pakistan is actually a moderate Muslim state because its run by Musharraf - a benign dictator. If he ever gets overthrown and the fanatics take his place there's going to be hell. It'll be a sharia law (like the Taliban - remember these were Taliban supporters). :stress

the cleric isn't "insane".

He is just referring to the CLEAR guidelines offered in the Koran:

The Koran is not only "valid" in Pakistan.

The same guidelines and LAWS apply to American muslims

or Muslims in Australia.

The verse about beating women is a general rule,

it even doesn't reflect the harder punishments extremist

Muslims refer to as their law, the Shariah.
